Christmas Amaryllis

2007
23 ½ x 27

"Christmas Amaryllis" is a wholecloth quilt which I painted on cotton using a well known early 19th century English stipple engraving by William Hooker as my inspiration. Begun in a workshop with Patt Blair, It was painted using Tsukineko inks and Fabrico markers and thread painted with rayon and polyester thread. I trapunto'd the image to make it more dimensional. Lastly I added seed beading in the center of the blossoms and around the paisley border as well as couched metallic braid and corner tassels.
