Linda Ballard's unusual "Fractured Crystals" quilt pattern always intrigued me and when I found a collection of Indian paisley influenced fabrics, the combination reminded me of the 16th and 17th century Mughal period tracery patterns, textiles and prayer niches of northern India.

I added to the Indian flavor with hand applied shisha mirrors, silver braid and heavy free motion quilting in silver metallic and silk threads - a reminder of the fabulous metallic embroidery on period Indian textiles.
