Glen's Secret Garden
2006

My husband Glen is an avid gardener, so this quilt which features four large flower heads like those found in our Los Angeles garden was named for him.

The piecing patterns for these four blooms were found in the wonderful Ruth McDowell's book Pieced Flowers and served as introduction to her piecing technique before taking a workshop from her in 2006.
I used commercial batiks, printed commercial cottons and hand dyes and free motion quilted the
crazy pieced sun printed border. The petals on the white daisy are three dimensional.
