Our son David spent many very happy summers at Gold Arrow Camp in the High Sierras of California. Here I have portrayed him during one of those idyllic summers at Shaver Lake at age 9 or 10.

Begun in a workshop with David Taylor at the 2009 international Quilt Festival at Long Beach, California, I used several of my own photos to compose this scene.

The quilt was constructed using turned appliqué by machine using hand dyed cottons and batiks. David's face was painted with acrylic fabric paints. the background was closely machine quilted using many different solid and variegated cotton and polyester threads.
