Autumn Haze

This small piece started with some wonderful Indian cotton gauze - the beautifully shaded fabric reminded of me of an incredibly beautiful autumn afternoon traveling through Lake Forest, Illinois with friends many years ago. The sunlight dappling through the changing autumn leaves with an occasional leaf fall now and then was the inspiration for this composition.
The raw edged leaves were fused to the background which was then stencilled with further leaves and fronds. These were then thread painted with fine silk thread. After quilting the background, beads and some further fabric paint was added.
